My Favourite Rufus Wainwright

I’ve been trying for ages to get a couple of my friends (they know who they are) to appreciate the genius of Rufus Wainwright. Constant forced indoctrination via the sound system in my car has produced polite interest, so I feel that a more sophisticated solution is required. About six months ago a good friend published a playlist called ‘My Favourite Jason Mraz’, to introduce me to the artist of the same name. I downloaded it, and still listen to it at least once a week. Building on the success of that playlist in embedding some great tunes into the darkest recesses of my brain, here is ‘My Favourite Rufus Wainwright’.

Rewriting History

This is something that I feel like I have to share even though it’s about something really personal. If you’re the sort of person who can’t be doing with deep and meaningfuls, I suggest you look away now. Everyone else, if you want to learn something about me, carry on. Death of an Institution

I love Christmas. No, really, I do. Yes, it’s always ever so slightly disappointing on the gift front, but it’s better to give than to receive particularly when you’re a notoriously awkward person to buy for. What I find difficult is that there’s quite a lot of hanging around involved.

Take today, for instance. Today I woke up at a reasonable hour, but stayed in bed until eleven because there wasn’t really any great reason to get up (it’s cold outside, there’s no kind of atmosphere etc…). Quick shower, some breakfast, and a decision that I may as well amuse myself in town, since I appeared to have missed Homes Under The Hammer and This Morning are still on their Christmas break.
