I think I might burst

Well, well, well. What a difference a week makes.

Since I last posted about the various different properties I’d been looking at, much has happened. I’ve seen one of them again. Made an offer, and had it accepted, but not on any of the ones I’d mentioned before. Confused? Do try to keep up.

Last weekend I dragged my mum out flat hunting. She actually seemed quite keen and we started Saturday by having a look round two new developments. I’d arranged to take mum with me to see West View Court again on Sunday, so in a way seeing the shiny places was a bit like the bit at the end of bullseye when they show them a caravan they can’t have (let’s see what you could have won – oh, it’s a caravan).

They were all very nice, but a bit out of my range.

Then on Sunday, we went and had another look at West View. I managed to convince mum it wasn’t as ‘dark’ as she thought it would be (even being north facing, imagine that) and it had a sea view. I knew she wasn’t keen when she started opening drawers in the kitchen and realised someone had left little bits of food behind.

Then we went back up the road to one of the new developments, and after much discussion put in an offer. Long story short, mum’s lending me some extra deposit (thanks mum!), and the offer was accepted.

So here it is.

Oh dear, I’m growing up

So, excitement of all excitements, I’ve started looking for a proper grown up place to live. A couple of people have asked me what I’m looking at, and the URLs you get on Rightmove are hideous (and the ‘Share This’ button doesn’t appear to work). So on that basis, I’ll do a quick post.

I’ve looked at:

West View Court

Claremont Road

Hillside Avenue

Pelham Road (1)

Pelham Road (2)

…and West Dean Rise.

I’m not saying on here what I thought of them just in case so if you want the gory details you’ll have to actually get in touch and ask, but I’ll keep you posted of any major developments. In the mean time, have a look and let me know what you think (all advice is gratefully received).

Worthwhile work?

If you don’t work with me you won’t get it, look away now… (It’ll only be up for a couple of days anyway).

2.0 or not 2.0?

I’m throwing out an open question here to anyone who reads this. I’m not looking for specialist advice (I’ve found plenty of that, and it all says the same thing) – what I want to know is…

Is there a place for a ‘web 2.0′ approach to recruitment?

Read the rest of 2.0 or not 2.0?

My Favourite Rufus Wainwright

I’ve been trying for ages to get a couple of my friends (they know who they are) to appreciate the genius of Rufus Wainwright. Constant forced indoctrination via the sound system in my car has produced polite interest, so I feel that a more sophisticated solution is required. About six months ago a good friend published a playlist called ‘My Favourite Jason Mraz’, to introduce me to the artist of the same name. I downloaded it, and still listen to it at least once a week. Building on the success of that playlist in embedding some great tunes into the darkest recesses of my brain, here is ‘My Favourite Rufus Wainwright’.
